About Kelowna
Kelowna is the largest lakeshore city in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley with a population of 112,000+ people. It is the largest and fastest growing city in the Okanagan and the region's cultural and economic hub. Kelowna is located on the Okanagan Lake, midway between Penticton to the south and Vernon to the north. Kelowna is approximately 150 kms north of the US border and 395 kms from Vancouver.
Nestled within a range of mountains and is surrounded by an abundance of lakes, forests, orchards and farmlands, vineyards and sandy beaches, Kelowna is a four-season playground. There is an abundance of great places to golf, ski, hike, mountain bike or enjoy a myriad of water sports like sailing, houseboating, kayaking, windsurfing and fishing. The Okanagan Valley is also home to an internationally acclaimed wine industry with 142+ wineries.
Rental housing has been easier to find in Kelowna. The Kelowna area apartment vacancy rate increased to 3% in October 2009 from 0.3% a year ago. Rents have moved down in response to rising vacancy. Average rent levels for one and two bedroom apartment units are forecast at $730 and $890 per month rates. Rents currently for a one bedroom, one bath are $675 to $1100; two bedrooms for $815 to $2000.

Where to live in Kelowna
Black Mountain, Dilworth Mountain, Ellison, Glenmore, Kelowna North, Kelowna South, Kelowna West, Lower Mission, North Glenmore, Rutland North, Rutland South, South East Kelowna, Springfield/Spall and Upper Mission. West Kelowna's neighbourhoods are Westbank, Glenrosa, Lakeview Heights, Shannon Lake and Fintry.
Transportation Routes
As you can already tell, Burlington offers excellent highway access. Downtown apartment dwellers have the option of getting to the QEW via North Shore Boulevard or by taking one of Brant Street or Guelph Line.
If you live in an apartment on the west side of the QEW you have the added benefit of being able to easily access Hwy 407. Note: Hwy 407 is a toll highway and can be rather costly to travel on. While it can be expensive to use, it does provide a fast and reliable route to locations in the north end of Toronto all the way to Oshawa.
